Biography / Administrative history
The Assiniboine Agency in the North-West Territories was established when the first agent appointed on 1 July 1886. The agency was responsible for bands in Treaty 4, Saskatchewan: Moose Jaw 1 (1902-1911); Moose Jaw 2 (1915-1935); and Carry the Kettle (1885-1935). These bands were formerly under the responsibility of the Qu'Appelle (then named Indian Head) agent. This agency was absorbed by Qu'Appelle on 20 July 1935 although they shared the same agent since 1 April 1934. Finding aid 10-12: Guide to Indian Bands and Agencies in Western Canada, 1871-1959.
