Biography / Administrative history
In 1901, the Forest Nursery Station, was established by the Government of Canada under the Department of the Interior. It was intended to supply hardy tree and shrub material to prairie farmers, as the material they brought from their homelands, or from eastern Canada or the United States was often not hardy enough for the harsh prairie climate. WL Kerr was the Superintendent of the Forest Nursery Station at Sutherland, Saskatchewan from 1928 to 1955. The facility ceased operations in the late 1960s. RG17 General Inventory
