Scope and content

Sub-series consists of letterbooks containing copies of letters written by the superintendents (George Ironside, Jr., Charles T. Dupont and William Plummer) of the Northern Superintendency, and continued to 1877 by J.C. Phipps. In 1873, Phipps had been placed in charge of the first of the Northern Superintendency's three successor agencies - the Northern Superintendency, Division 1.
