Scope and content
Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Personnel Branch and its predecessors. The registry files in volumes 592-614 cover the late 1940s and 1950s and were created by the Departments of Mines and Resources, Resources and Development, and especially Northern Affairs and National Resources. They relate to the internal organization and administration of the many offices and branches (Northern Administration, Parks, Forestry, Water Resources, etc.) of the parent department itself, as well as of such agencies which reported to the Minister as the National Museums, territorial governments, Trans-Canada Highway unit, Canadian Government Travel Bureau, Resources for Tomorrow secretariat. The files concern internal organization (with charts), personnel matters, Treasury Board and Justice rulings, Parliamentary returns, Departmental Joint Council, Civil Service Association of Ottawa. Volumes 905-916 contains administrative files for the Personnel Branch. These files cover the period 1966-1980 and have the prefix "P" before the number. The subjects covered by these records include: acts and legislation, associations, clubs and societies, ceremonies and celebrations, committees, bilingualism, employment and recruiting, and management services.
