Scope and content

This series, created during Mr. Sharp's tenure as President of the Privy Council Office and Leader of the House of Commons, is arranged into two groups of subject files. The first group, numerically coded departmental files, consists of correspondence, memorandum, submissions and reports from the Prime Minister, cabinet colleagues and government departments filed by Privy Council Office staff for Mr. Sharp. The second group, alphabetically arranged subject files, are Mr. Sharp's personal files, some of which were created prior to this cabinet assignment. File titles were supplied for materials found loose in the boxes. Some of the subjects in this series include Liberal Party fund-raising, election coordination, Western farmers and international trade agreements, social security programs, government wage and price controls, conflict of interest guidelines, ethics, cabinet committees, cabinet colleagues, parliamentary reform, business in the House of Commons, and the Privy Council Office.
