Scope and content

Pursuant to the statutes 6 George III cap. 34 and 9 George III cap. 3, David and Andrew Stuart were commissioned to explore the North Shore of the St. Lawrence. Andrew Stuart's report on immigration, exploration and settlement in the Saguenay country, 1754-1829, was submitted to Sir James Kempt to under cover of a letter of 10 April 1829. The rationale for segregation of this report from the primary series (A 1) is under investigation.
