Scope and content
Colonial Office 398 consists of entry books for British Columbia and follows the usual system of arrangement for "colony" classes. Each volume is followed by an index which normally provides the date of communication, names of correspondents and a brief description of the basic subject matter. Before 1864, the "Offices" and "Individuals" categories, the so-called "Domestic Correspondence", are located within the class CO 43, volumes 49-130 (1810-1864). Drafts of some out-letters will be found in CO 60. Entry books for Vancouver Island will be found in CO 410. This material is available on microfilm reels B-890 to B-892.
