Recordkeeping Day: The Disposition Edition

Is Disposition a challenge?

Well, we can help!

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is committed to its role in providing advice and support to Government of Canada (GC) institutions on the Directive on Recordkeeping. This winter, LAC and Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) are pleased to invite you to attend RK Day: The Disposition Edition on 8 December 2010 from 8:00 to 3:30 in the Auditorium of 395 Wellington.

The focus of this RK Day event is Disposition, with emphasis on awareness and information, as well as the necessary involvement and collaboration of all GC employees in order to achieve the successful implementation of the Directive on Recordkeeping. Specific attention will be paid to assisting GC institutions in overcoming fears associated with disposition and how to manage electronic information resources.

The day will consist of four sessions designed to cover a particular area of interest regarding Disposition. Each session will include two presentations: One by a subject expert and one from a GC department that has implemented changes prompted by the Directive. Presentations will be followed by a question period, where participants can interact with presenters to achieve a better understanding of the subject being covered.

Session 1: Identifying Information Resources of Business Value
Session 2: MIDA for Transitory Information Resources
Session 3: MIDAs in the Age of RK
Session 4: TBS Presentation on RK

So if you want to get the most up-to-date information on recordkeeping, hear what other GC institutions are doing to improve RK, and have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with subject experts, please join us for RK Day: The Disposition Edition on 8 December 2010!

We will be offering web conferencing for participants in the regions. To provide this service, we need to know how many people from the regions plan to attend the event. If you plan to attend RK Day: The Disposition Edition from the regions, you will need to confirm your participation no later than the end of business day on 16 November.

For participants in the National Capital Region, please send an email to the Recordkeeping Liaison Centre by 26 November to register:

Looking forward to seeing you there!
